Snow Dyeing |

Come use some of our abundant winter white stuff to make your own fabulously textured dyed cloth!… Yes, I do mean dyeing with snow! You may have seen the article in Quilt Arts magazine on this dyeing method, and strange as it seems it really works, is simple, and fun. The snow dyed cloth can be wild or tame, is absolutely gorgeous, and blends wonderfully with batiks in quilts and other fiber creations! No previous dyeing experience is necessary. Shibori Dyeing Class |
|
|
|
Shibori dyeing uses compression of fabric to resist dye penetration, and thus create a wide variety of patterns and textures on cloth. Shibori dyed cloth can be subtle, bold, intricate, or simple, and bears little resemblance to the familiar tie-dye motifs from the 60s! This class will concentrate on introducing students to stitch-resist shibori (nui shibori), with forays into additional shibori methods such as clamped, wrapped, and tied resists. No previous fabric dyeing experience is needed, but the class will cover only the very basics of dyeing with Procion MX dyes. Students will come away from the class with some uniquely beautiful fabrics, and an appreciation for this ancient art that has roots in many cultures from Japan, China, Africa, South America, to name a few! UFO Club, bring your unfinished projects and enjoy the camaraderie of sewing with others. There is no charge for this class, but please call to let us know you will be here. UFO Club is on the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month. Club starts when the first person shows up and closes down when the key bearer leaves. Sewing and Sharing. Bring a potluck dish and learn about new things going on in the sewing world. We have demonstrations of new techniques, samples of new patterns, and showing of new and exciting things we have discovered for you. Sewing and Sharing is on the 2nd Friday and Saturday of the month.
Fridays club starts at 6:30 pm and runs till about 9:00 pm. Saturdays club starts at 1:00 and runs until about 3:00. Please bring anything you have done recently to show off as we have the sharing part after the potluck part. Please call to reserve a spot, there is no charge for Sewing and Sharing.
